Kitchen gadget love
I love kitchen gadgets. However over the years I have purchased many kitchen gadgets that I did not use. Such as a bread maker, food dehydrator, pasta maker, slicer, ect…. You get the idea.
I paid a lot of money for these items but I never used them.
On the flip side I have also bought a food processor, crock pot, and indoor grill, electric fry pans, which I use a lot.
I thought, wow if I make my own pasta and bread I can really save a lot of money. But my family did not like the bread that came out of the bread maker and after playing with several recipes and trying to get it the right texture I just finally gave up, the same was true with the pasta maker. I could not convince my family to eat it. I beat myself up over how much money and space these items stole from me.
I have since given away the bread maker, pasta maker and dehydrator to someone who will maybe actually use it.
Now I really try to look hard at what I will use before I buy it. Other things I consider before I buy a gadget.
Will my family eat it?
Does it save me time, money or both?
My time is limited so when will I really use this?
Is there something I already have that will do the same thing?
I still love kitchen gadgets and I believe if you will use something it is worth buying, and many times it may even pay to buy a more expensive model, such as with my food processor. I use it to make bread dough, and cookie dough. I use it through out the summer when I am canning for slicing and pureeing. Try to access how you cook and what you use and don’t feel guilty if you don’t use something, donate it, or sell it to someone who will, and consider it a lesson learned!
